Terms and Conditions
Thank you for choosing Scissorhounds. Your dog is very important to us. We would like to assure you that every effort is made to make your dog’s experience is as safe and pleasant as possible.
Health/ Medical problems
The dog owner advice Scissorhounds of any medical, physical, emotional issues and inform new conditions as they arise. Owners give permission for Scissorhounds to contact their dog’s Vet Clinic and discuss and health-related matters.
Accident/ Emergency
Although accidents are very rare, there is a risk when handling dogs. If necessary, Scissorhounds will transport your dog to a veterinarian. In the event of an emergency, the dog owner authorizes Scissorhounds to immediately seek professional veterinarian attention for the dog.
Dangerous/ Aggressive Dogs or Behavioral Issues
Owners must inform us if your dog bites, is aggressive, unpredictable and/or has any behavioural issues. We will make every attempt to groom uncooperative dogs, but we may not be able to complete grooming on dogs that pose a threat to themselves, or the groomers. A fee will be charged dependent on work completed up to that point.
Vaccination
To maintain a safe environment, we require all dogs to be current on their vaccinations, which include Distemper, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, Leptospirosis and Kennel Cough. All dogs need to wait at least 48 hours after shots before a visit. If a vaccination has lapsed and the dog requires a core vaccination (plus a booster vaccination four(4) weeks following), then they will need to wait 7 days after the booster to come in. *Owners will take full responsibility if their dogs are not fully vaccinated and get sick.
Fleas
Scissorhounds requires your dog to be undertaking regular flea and worm treatments. If we find a dog to have fleas or worms we will treat these at the owner’s expense.
Matted dogs
We firmly believe grooming should be an enjoyable experience and will not put your pet through the discomfort of unnecessary dematting. If the matting is minimal and the dog responds well, we may brush them out for an extra fee. If we do not believe we can remove the mats promptly or we feel your pet in pain, we will not continue and will clip short/shave. We will notify you before shaving your dog, if permission to shave down is denied your pet will not get a bath or haircut and must be picked up as is. There is a greater risk of nicking, scratching, cuts etc to a matted dog during the grooming process. In addition, the skin may appear red, itchy and irritated due to the lack of oxygen reaching in and under the mats.
If you will not be the one to bring your dog to us for a groom (say you asked a friend, partner or a family member to bring your dog to us ), do not forget to relay your specific instructions to them on what you wanted to be done. We will not call you.
Failure to do so will prompt us to do one of the following:
A. Groom the dog using his previous grooming history as reference.
B. Groom the dog based on the condition that he was presented to us.
C. Groom the dog based on what the instruction of your friend or family member has told us ( if there is any).
